Where: At his home on Diamond Ave, Gaithersburg, MD
Cause: Sadly, suicide.
Nearest Relative/s: Niece ~ Sandra Offutt, class of '86 his older brothers Tom & John still live near Gaithersburg MD; Cecil has 7 older brothers & two older sisters; James W. Offutt passed on 08/11/1985 (Sandra's father).

Of special note: I was 7 when Uncle Cecil died. We were all devastated. I remember him rocking me on his lap in his chair every time I visited. I loved my Uncle Cecil and have missed getting to build a relationship with him. I always hear good things about him. He was truly loved and is truly missed. ~ Sandra Offutt

...don't know if you needed to know all of this--just an FYI. Perhaps it might help you with locating others. etc...as G'burg was a small town back in those days. And the Offutt family was prominent and well known. (Great Grand Father owned half of Gaithersburg once upon a time and his wife Agnes was the Bonds Lady for many years and my Great Uncle Ralph Offutt was the Sheriff for 17 years or so. I knew Cecil from elementary school at St. Mrtin's and he was always a great guy--he was quiet, but he had a great dignity to him. I am so sorry to hear of his passing.

You were the quiet gentle guy, with soft spoken words, yet a friendly hand. I am sorry you felt so alone as to take your life. You were kind to me after the death of my Mom. I will carry you in my thoughts and in my heart. May God Keep you in His Love. God Bless you friend.
