Dale and I belonged to the same church growing up--Washington Grove United Methodist. He was fun, funny, and a terrific dancer.

I, too, was a member of Washington Grove Methodist Church. And I will second that about Dale! He was an all-around terrific guy....sooooo funny, such a good friend, and what a dancer! He attended our 30th reunion at the Golden Bull Restaurant in 1999. It was so fun seeing him again at that reunion. We talked about some of us getting together at his place in Miami the year we all would be turning 50. But he was gone before that could happen...and I was so sad when I heard the news. I do think of Dale quite often....and he still makes me smile...he was one of my best childhood friends.

I remember MYF meeting at Washington Grove, and Dale's sense of humor. He and I won a Polka Contest at McCathran Hall, but whether it was 5th or 6th grade, and what the occasion was is a mystery.

By coincidence, my wife found and showed me my 6th grade safety patrol picure from Gaithersburg Elementary (April '63)! Because I knew he had passed away, the first face I noticed was Dale's. It made me reflect on how young we all were and how far we've come. Dale was an ok guy; a little dynamo. These reunions are important...let's all keep attending.

I met Dale when we were 13 or 14. He and I were always close, all through Junior High and then High School. We both lived at Bayla Gardens. He could always make me laugh. He went into the Navy in 1970. I remember that he came to my wedding in uniform..... We kept in touch while he was in the Navy. He came to live in Hawaii when my husband and I were stationed there. He was wonderful with my kids, who always called him Uncle Dale. He lived in New York City after getting out of the Navy. One of my fondest memories of Dale was him taking care of crack babies in NYC. He would go to the hospital 2 or 3 times a week and just sit and rock those sweet little kids. When his partner, Ric, called and told me about the accident in his pool on May 30, 2001 my world came crashing down on me. My daughter and I tired to get to Miami to be with him, but he passed away before I could get there. He was a wonderful friend who I miss dearly.
