Fred was Photography Editor for Sail On when I was editor-in-chief. I remember he wore colorful shirts with matching socks. His death in the Vietnam War was a great loss, and I've visited his name on the wall.

Fred was such a great friend. Before he went to Vietnam he would hitch hike from base out to Gaithersburg to spend some time at our home. More than likely he gotten picked up by a police officer on the way ....since hitching on 270 was not legal! They would bring him to my house. I can remember getting the call one fall morning telling me that his plane was missing and presumed shot down. All were missing. I think of him often and have many photos that he took while in Vietnam.

Fred was a great guy and showed real courage and honor in his service to our country. I was always impressed by his balance, good humor, and kindness. I miss him.
Peace Fred,
Bill

I remember he was always taking pictures.

Didn't know him well in High School, but talked to him a few times in Tech School at Lowery A.F.B.. By a querk of fate, we had both been sent to Lowery, in Colorado. We met up in the Airmens Club. He was in Photo Recon & Interpretation and I was Air Intel. He was shipped out shortly after that.

He was a good guy, doing a good job in a bad time.

He came up to me one day and handed me a photo that he had taken of Gary Jones giving me the football as I ran through the line. It was an amazing phote and I still have it today. I think of him when I look at it.

I volunteered to wash the Vietnam wall once a month. I always say a prayer and thank you to Fred. I also cry when I touch his name. He left this life so soon. He was such a gentleman and good hearted guy.

Fred had an older brother - Gary. I believe Gary dropped out during our senior year and went into the military. Wonder if there were other classmates who dropped out and enlisted?
